A 56-year-old man from Ross-shire has admitted to keeping a Lurcher-type dog in filthy conditions at a property in Contin.
Edward Stewart, of Tarradale Gardens, Muir of Ord, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to failing to protect the dog from unnecessary injury and suffering.
The charge stated that the dog was kept in unsanitary and unhygienic surroundings, with faeces and urine on the floor and hazardous materials piled up nearby.
Sheriff David Mackie deferred Stewart's sentence until November 27, pending a social work background report.
