Knoll's 'Biboni' Sofa: A Blend of 1970s Icons and Michelin Man Inspiration

Architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee drew inspiration from 1970s design icons, Bibendum, and macaroni to create the 'Biboni' sofa for Knoll.

Their design process involved merging the words 'Bibendum' and 'Macaroni' to form the name 'Biboni', resulting in a sofa collection characterized by bold, enveloping curves and a floating frame.

The "Biboni" has a chubbiness that feels welcoming and informal, it also has the precision and purity of a centrepiece in a room.

According to Johnston, the 'Biboni' sofa collection, which includes two-, three-, and four-seaters, as well as sectionals with chaise options, embodies a unique blend of warmth and sophistication.
