Stellantis Shifts Jeep Compass Production to Illinois
Stellantis has confirmed plans to move production of its Jeep Compass SUV from Brampton, Ontario, to its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois.
The decision comes after months of uncertainty following a production pause in Canada earlier this year due to escalating U.S. trade tensions and tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
“As part of this announcement, we will move one model from Canada to the U.S.,”
Stellantis announced a $13 billion investment to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint, with over $600 million allocated to reopen and upgrade the Belvidere facility, expected to create 3,300 new jobs by 2027.
This move raises concerns for Canadian auto jobs.
