Bob Ross Paintings to be Auctioned for APT's Create
Thirty original Bob Ross paintings will be sold to offset station licensing fees for American Public Television's Create multicast channel.
American Public Television is set to receive a boost from the sale of over 30 Bob Ross paintings, which will be auctioned by Bonhams over the next three years.
My head started ticking away, like, 'Well, this many paintings would equal this much, and this many paintings would equal this much,'
said Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc., who conceived the idea for the sale after two privately held Ross paintings were sold for around $100,000 each in August.
- Proceeds from the sale will help alleviate licensing fees stations pay for APT's Create multicast channel.
- Many of the pieces were painted on Ross's long-running series, The Joy of Painting.
