A proposal to connect Galveston and Pelican Island with a "land bridge" has been revisited, despite being a late arrival in the debate in 2018.
The 60-year-old Pelican Island Bridge is the only land route onto Pelican Island, home to Texas A&M University at Galveston, Seawolf Park, and several industrial companies.
That design isn’t a bad idea and would provide some benefits the approved design can’t.
However, with all parties now moving in the same direction, it seems like a bad time for a fundamental rethinking of the plan.
