The Netherlands’ biggest artwork is as crazy as it gets – here’s a preview

The Netherlands' Biggest Artwork: A Sneak Peek

Designer Job Smeets of Studio Job invites us into his atelier to showcase his work in progress for House of Delft, a 2,000 sq m ode to the Dutch city of Delft.

Job Smeets is a designer who values the tactility of materials, such as majolica, bronze, and tapestry, and speaks passionately about the process of creation.

His work is loaded with conceptual metaphors, but he speaks most passionately about the tactility of majolica, the plasticity of bronze or a wall tapestry’s interlaced warp threads.

Since founding Studio Job in 1998, Smeets has developed a unique language that blends ornate sculpture and pop-influenced design, folkloric and kitsch elements.

Author's summary: Job Smeets creates a massive artwork for Delft city.
