Matt Payne Wins Bathurst Classic
Matt Payne has won the Bathurst 1000, despite crossing the line second, alongside Supercars legend Garth Tander.
Payne and Tander, driving for Grove Racing, withstood a tense top-three battle to claim the title in one of the most unforgettable Bathurst 1000s in history.
- Payne broke through for his first title at the Great Race.
- Tander claimed his sixth Bathurst crown.
James Golding crossed the finish line first, but was penalized for an earlier collision with Erebus rookie Cooper Murray.
The near seven-hour epic was held in wet and wild conditions, coming down to the final lap on Sunday.
