2025 Great Alaska ShakeOut Reminds the State to Drop, Cover and Hold On
The Great Alaska Shakeout was held on Thursday at 10:16 a.m., coinciding with the date 10/16 at 10:16.
As an annual event, the ShakeOut encourages citizens across the state to practice protecting themselves from earthquakes. With Alaska experiencing 50-100 earthquakes daily, practice is crucial.
Denali Montessori Elementary School participated in the Great Alaska Shakeout, with children quickly finding safe positions, covering their heads and necks, and sheltering under desks as they should in a real earthquake.
