The state has announced that a state trooper who shot and killed a Wasilla man barricaded in a motorhome bathroom was legally justified in using deadly force.
The incident occurred earlier this year when Trooper Nicholas Blanchard, who has been with the force for one year, responded to a search for 32-year-old Charles Hedgers, a convicted felon wanted by police.
According to reports, officers responded to a private property near the intersection of West Hollywood Road and South Sylvan Lane in Wasilla just after 1 p.m.
The Office of Special Prosecutions stated that Trooper Nicholas Blanchard was “legally justified” in using deadly force.
