Meta is introducing parental controls for kids' interactions with artificial intelligence chatbots, allowing parents to turn off one-on-one chats and block specific bots.
According to Meta, parents will have the ability to:
- Turn off chats with AI characters altogether
- Block specific chatbots
- Get insights into what their kids are discussing with AI characters, without accessing full chats
Meta's AI assistant will remain available to offer helpful information and educational opportunities, with default, age-appropriate protections in place to help keep teens safe.
These changes are set to take effect early next year.
