Nepal's government is negotiating a loan with the World Bank to fund the Nepal Clean Air and Prosperity Project, despite collecting billions of rupees in taxes on fossil fuels over the past 16 years.
The proposed $147.9 million project aims to reduce industrial emissions, strengthen air pollution control, and improve emergency response, according to World Bank documents.
“With regard to the loan size, the amount is being finalized with the government based on the cost of the detailed project activities,”said Akash Babu Shrestha, a World Bank spokesperson in Nepal.
