A 3-year-old Alabama girl, Kionni Haugen, was reunited with her family on October 4 after being allegedly abducted by her mother, Haley Harris, and taken to Mexico.
According to investigators, Harris was tracked using her cell phone data, but Mexican officials initially refused to release Kionni back to the United States. Lawmakers then intervened to facilitate the reunion.
"I got some moms and grandmas on my staff, and when they found out that little girl, where she was at, then they made it their mission to get her back to America,"
Kionni's father, Bryce Haugen, reported that the incident began on September 21 when Harris arrived at his house, attempting to take the 3-year-old.
