Thailand's New Biofuel Roadmap
Thailand is shifting its energy focus with a 1% SAF mandate for aviation starting in 2026 and a focus on E20 and B7 for road transport.
The country's energy transition is part of the National Energy Plan (NEP 2024), with the transport sector at its core, accounting for 40.5% of final energy consumption.

- Utilizing ethanol surplus for SAF production and export
Sutharee Kiatman, Head of the Academic Group at the Bureau of Biofuel Development, stated that the use of SAF is key to decarbonising the aviation sector, in accordance with international obligations ICAO-CORSIA.
The initiatives aim to drive the aviation industry towards Thailand's 2050 Carbon Neutrality goal and 2065 Net Zero target.
