Postgame Shooting at Alcorn State Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

A wave of weekend shootings following high school and college football games in Mississippi has resulted in at least nine people killed and more than 20 wounded.

In Lorman, a shooting occurred at Alcorn State University after a football game on Saturday, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reported that officers responded to a call of shots fired near the Industrial Technology Building at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found three individuals with apparent gunshot wounds, with at least one person suffering fatal injuries. The MBI is gathering evidence and urges anyone with information to contact them at [email protected].

The shooting happened after Alcorn State played Lincoln University in a football game on campus Saturday afternoon.

No statement from the university has been released regarding the incident.
