Body Found During Search for Missing Vermont College Student
A body has been found during the search for Lia Smith, a 21-year-old Middlebury College student who was last seen on campus nearly a week ago.
Smith was last seen on the night of October 19 and was reported missing the following Sunday, according to a Facebook post by the school.
- The Vermont State Police and rescue crews found the body around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in a field near the college's organic farm, known as The Knoll.
- The remains are being sent to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Burlington for an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death.
