Potent Wind Storm Hits South King County
A potent Pacific storm brought strong winds, thunderstorms, and power outages to Burien and south King County late Friday night and early Saturday.
According to meteorologist Michael Snyder of Pacific Northwest Weather Watch, the system developed from a jet stream and
“brought some strong gusts”to areas like Normandy Park and SeaTac.
- Wind gusts of 50 mph or more were recorded along coastal Washington.
- Multiple rounds of thunderstorms caused downed trees and branches in neighborhoods, including Burien and Federal Way.
Meteorologist Michael Snyder reported that his own skylight was ripped off his Normandy Park home during the wind event.
