About one in seven Americans has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), with 10% of cases resulting from genetic conditions. Maxim became determined to find a cure, and his breakthrough moment came in 2021 with a Nature Magazine study showing PKD can be reversed in mice using CRISPR technology.
Maxim has been obsessed with finding a cure for himself and others ever since he was in high school.
