Grant County Police Investigate Theft of Cryptocurrency Machines
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after a theft of Bitcoin machines valuing $700,000 earlier this month.
According to the department, a report was filed by "Your Choice Ever Best" (YCEB) Bitcoin mining operation in Grant County on October.
Bitcoin mining machines are used to verify cryptocurrency transactions and secure the blockchain network, as explained by the police.
YCEB, which was initially established in China and now operates in Marion, Indiana, reported a hijacked shipment of cargo containing 1,000 Bitcoin machines.
- The estimated value of the stolen machines is $700,000.
- The stolen shipment was tracked to the Chicago area.
- Following an undercover operation, the stolen cargo was recovered by officers.
