Airports are gearing up for the holiday season amidst the ongoing government shutdown, which is causing uncertainty about its duration.
According to Lauren Gonzales, the Marketing Supervisor at Santa Barbara Airport, larger airports are more likely to be affected by the shutdown.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced some flight disruptions on Sunday, with flights from Oakland to LA being temporarily grounded due to staffing shortages.
"We really haven't seen much impact on operations at SBA luckily, but we are keeping in close contact with our Federal partners to be in touch on any changes that they see on their end,"
said Gonzales. However, a government worker, who wished to remain anonymous, reported being delayed due to issues at other airports while traveling out of town.
Airports like Santa Barbara are closely monitoring the situation and are in touch with federal partners to stay informed about any potential changes.
