Qatar Energy has acquired a 40% participating interest in the North Rafah exploration area, located off the coast of Egypt.
The company will hold a 40% share in the exploration concession, while the operator, Eni, will retain a 60% interest.
The North Rafah area is situated in the Mediterranean Sea, covering an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometers, with water depths reaching up to 450 meters.
Recently, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced new oil and natural gas discoveries in Egypt’s Western Desert and Nile Delta during October 2025, adding more than 5,000 barrels of crude oil and 42 million cubic feet of gas per day to national production.
