Geothermal Heating Plant in Konin, Poland Begins Operations
The city of Konin has officially started operations of its geothermal heating facility, making it the tenth operational geothermal heating plant in Poland.
Located in Pociejewo, the plant is operated by the municipal heating company MPEC Konin. It has an installed capacity of 8 MW, but is currently operating at 2 MW.
The construction of the heating plant was completed about a year ago, with initial plans to start operations during the 2024-2025 heating season. The project was supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW), which provided PLN 26 million in funding and a loan of PLN 18 million. The local government contributed PLN 4 million to the total investment of PLN 67 million.
