Our society is known for its diverse culture and intersecting ideas. However, there's a growing trend of religion influencing democracy.
To avoid an authoritarian future, we must understand what it means to live in such a nation. As Margaret Atwood writes in "The Handmaid's Tale":
Nothing changes instantaneously: in a gradually heating bathtub you'd be boiled to death before you knew it.
The U.S. is built on diversity, a melting pot where ideas and cultures intersect. But when this pot starts to boil, issues arise. Considering the diverse groups as different foods, minorities like the LGBTQIA+ and feminist movements would be the first to be affected, and this is already happening.
