The European Parliament is weighing a ban on Russian media outlets from its networks, sparking concerns about setting a precedent for media restrictions.
Leaders of political groups expressed concerns during a meeting on October 15, where the right-wing European Conservatives and Reformists requested that "Russian propaganda websites under EU sanctions" be blocked from the Parliament's IT infrastructure.
The request was made by Latvian MEP Rihards Kols, who wants to block access to these websites across all Parliament devices and networks.
The move comes after the EU sanctioned Russian media in 2022 following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
