French police have made five additional arrests in connection to the Louvre heist, which resulted in the theft of €88m worth of crown jewels in broad daylight earlier this month.
The arrests were announced by Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau on RTL radio. Two other suspects, arrested four days prior, were charged with gang theft and criminal association.
According to Beccuau, the stolen jewels have not yet been recovered. However, three of the suspects have
partially admitted their participation in the theft, which occurred on 19 October. Their DNA was found on tools and a motorbike believed to have been used in the escape.
A fourth suspect, thought to have been involved in the heist, is still being searched for.
