Motorist Fined and Banned for Driving Under Influence of Cannabis

A 38-year-old man, Dean Herbertson, has been fined £1,000 and banned from driving for two years after driving off a ferry while under the influence of cannabis.

Herbertson claimed he was only driving because his girlfriend did not want to drive the vehicle off the boat. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a class B drug before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood.

He must pay the fine immediately or face up to 60 days' prison in default of payment.
