A medieval tower near the Roman Forum in Rome, Italy, has partially collapsed during renovation work, resulting in severe injuries and trapping one worker.
According to authorities, hundreds of tourists witnessed the incident as firefighters used a mobile ladder to rescue the trapped worker from the Torre dei Conti.
Firefighter spokesman Luca Cari confirmed that one worker remained trapped hours after the initial collapse.
A second partial collapse of the structure occurred during the rescue attempt, forcing firefighters to retreat.
