Fertilizer Scandal Inquiry Restart Demanded

A leading governance watchdog has called on Parliament to reopen the investigation into the K750 million fertilizer deal scandal.

The National Anti-Corruption Alliance (NACA) expressed concern that the inquiry, suspended by the previous Parliament, may be quietly buried, leaving taxpayers without answers or justice.

The deal was linked to a dubious foreign supplier and the loss of hundreds of millions of kwacha meant for affordable fertilizer under the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP).

The scandal exposed the rot in Malawi’s procurement systems and shook public trust.

Author's summary: Parliament urged to restart fertilizer scandal inquiry.
