A staff member of York-based train company LNER, who was seriously injured during a mass stabbing, has been named as Samir Zitouni, 48.
According to his family,
to us, he's always been a hero.
Samir Zitouni, who has worked for LNER for over 20 years, was credited by his employer with helping to save multiple lives during the incident.
David Horne, LNER's managing director, said:
In a moment of crisis, Sam did not hesitate as he stepped forward to protect those around him.
British Transport Police reported that the LNER worker remains in hospital in a stable condition but critically unwell.
