Cambrian College is launching a Dental Assisting program in response to the demand for qualified staff from dental practices in Northern Ontario.
Dental assistants play a vital role in supporting dentists and dental hygienists, and enhancing patient care.
The 10-month program will combine online courses with weekend sessions on campus, allowing students to balance their studies with work. A seven-week placement in a dental practice will provide hands-on experience.
According to Rachel Steels, dean of Cambrian's School of Health Sciences, dental assistants perform a range of duties, including infection control, x-rays, and patient education.
The program's introduction is driven by strong community and industry demand.
