The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 is currently underway in Qatar, attracting world leaders and experts from the football industry to the Aspire Zone. This tournament is recognized as one of the premier youth football events globally.
Among the distinguished visitors is Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly. She is in Qatar to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development, held from November 4 to 6, 2025.
During her visit to the tournament’s Local Organising Committee, Baerbock emphasized the unifying power of sports and its role in social justice. She stated:
“The global community has convened in Qatar to highlight the importance of social justice in building stronger societies. The same applies to sports – you only win when you play as one team.”
Baerbock served as Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs from December 2021 to May 2025.
The U-17 World Cup highlights how teamwork and collaboration are essential not only on the football field but also in broader societal efforts to foster unity and justice.
