Claressa Shields, the undisputed heavyweight champion in women's boxing, signed one of the most lucrative contracts in the sport's history. Over the past few years, Shields has established herself as a dominant force in boxing, and now her earnings are beginning to reflect her success.
On CBS Mornings on Thursday, November 11, Shields revealed a new two-year, $8 million multi-fight deal. She expressed her excitement about sharing the news after keeping it a secret for about a week.
“I'm so excited to get it out, I've been keeping it a secret for like a week,” Shields said.
According to Sportico, the agreement is with Wynn Records and Salita Promotions.
Shields recently defended her undisputed heavyweight title by defeating New Zealand’s Lani Daniels via unanimous decision at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on July 26. This victory marked her second win of 2025; her first was also by unanimous decision against Danielle Perkins in Flint in February.
A two-time Olympic gold medalist who calls herself the “Gwoat” (Greatest Woman of All Time), Shields applauded other female athletes who have gained better compensation in women's sports leagues.
“I'm not the only one making money, but to get this deal done I feel like I'm getting my just due,” she stated.
Shields also expressed strong interest in defending her Olympic gold medals at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, although current rules do not permit professional boxers to compete in the Olympics.
