Turkish Airlines May Switch to Airbus

Turkish Airlines is considering shifting its order for up to 150 B737 MAX aircraft to Airbus if talks with engine maker CFM International fail to progress.

“If negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International are successfully completed, orders for B737-8/10 MAX aircraft will also be placed,”

Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat informed Reuters about the potential switch. The airline initially announced the order in September, with 100 firm and 50 optional orders for B737-8 and B737-10 variants.

In addition to the B737 MAX order, the carrier also firmed an order for 35 B787-9s and 15 B787-10s, with purchase rights for 25 additional B787s.
