Kazakhstan Advances Digital Trade Integration with European Union and ITC Support

Kazakhstan continues its transition toward a more digital and interconnected trade system, presenting the results of the CART.IS (Cross-border Assessment of Readiness for Trade Information Systems) analysis. The event took place in Astana and gathered officials from the Ministry of Trade and Integration, QazTrade JSC, various government departments, as well as representatives from the European Union (EU) and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The participants assessed the progress in digitalising trade processes and discussed practical steps to enhance cooperation between state agencies and international partners. The CART.IS analysis highlighted significant achievements, while pointing out that 60% of trade-related services still require better cross-border connectivity and 52% of electronic services remain unlinked to the national interagency data exchange platform.

“Further simplification of trade procedures requires not only digitalisation, but also ensuring architectural compatibility between government agency systems.”

Key Findings and Outlook

Author’s Summary
