Kalispell Angler Terry Krogstad Wins Fall Mack Days

The 2025 Fall Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake, sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, concluded Sunday with 19,144 lake trout entries, surpassing last year’s total of 18,414.

A total of 335 anglers participated, with 116 submitting one or more lake trout catches. The Monday-Thursday period recorded 5,369 catches, while Friday-Sunday accounted for 13,775, both periods exceeding the 2024 figures of 3,811 and 14,603 respectively.

Top Anglers and Results

Jens Gran of Polson dominated the Mack Days Bucket of Fish contests, claiming all three with a combined weight of 93.65 pounds of lake trout.

Veteran angler Terry Krogstad of Kalispell earned the Top Angler title with 1,206 entries and an 18-day average catch rate of 57.83 lake trout.

“The event’s catch exceeded expectations, showing strong participation and impressive results,” said a CSKT Fisheries representative.

This annual fishing competition highlights the local angling community's skill while supporting the traditions and stewardship of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
