Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event following a confrontation between Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil and Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch.
The incident occurred on November 3 during a ceremony before the pageant. In a livestream on Miss Universe Thailand’s Facebook page, Itsaragrisil called out Bosch, accusing her of not fulfilling her duty to promote the organization.
“Mexico, where are you? I heard you did not agree to post everything about Thailand, about every article of our own activities. Is it true?”
Bosch acknowledged she had misunderstood her obligations. This further frustrated Itsaragrisil, who accused her of only following her national director's instructions.
“If you follow the orders from your national director, you are a dumb head,”
Itsaragrisil said before rebuking Bosch for responding.
Bosch defended herself, saying she has a voice and deserved respect as a woman.
“I have a voice, and I was not being respected as a woman.”
In the aftermath, multiple contestants walked out of the event, highlighting tensions within the Miss Universe organization during the lead-up to the competition.
