The Canon EOS R6 III takes a notable step forward from the strong EOS R6 II, offering more performance for photography and video enthusiasts. It introduces a new 32MP full-frame CMOS sensor designed for high-speed operation and rapid readout, targeting users who need both quality and responsiveness.
The 33MP FSI CMOS sensor is a new addition to Canon’s hybrid mirrorless series, previously used only in the cinema-oriented EOS C50. While Canon makes no claims of a major technological leap, early testing indicates faster readout speeds than the EOS R6 II’s lower-resolution sensor.
“The faster readout speeds, paired with changes to the card slot and processor, allow for big improvements to video capture.”
Canon retains its dual-pixel design, where each pixel is split into two sub-pixels capturing left and right segments of the image, enabling full-sensor phase detection autofocus. This design ensures smoother tracking and improved accuracy during both still and video shooting.
The Canon EOS R6 III refines Canon’s enthusiast-level full-frame mirrorless line with a sharper sensor, faster processing, and notable upgrades for hybrid creators.
